University Writing Center

Do you have a paper due next week but can’t find the right words? Are you experiencing writer’s block or having trouble focusing on one topic?

Whether you find yourself in these situations or need to understand documentation styles or how to use commas and semicolons, check out Edinboro University’s Writing Center for all your writing needs.

The Writing Center is open to all students, faculty and staff for assistance with writing from a variety of courses. Tutors are meeting via Zoom and in-person sessions this semester as per COVID-19 regulations

Students can check availability and sign up for appointments through Starfish. Tutors and staff provide guidance as collaborators in the writing process and teach students strategies for composing clear writing in all academic areas – especially in developing, revising and editing papers.

“Since our purpose is to help you to become an independent writer, we do not simply correct errors or rewrite your work,” said Edinboro University English professor Marti Mando, director of the Writing Center. “Instead, we teach you critical strategies that you can use to compose effective written papers.”

Additionally, the Writing Center staff helps students and future graduates to compose clear resumes, cover letters and applications for a job or for graduate school.

Online tutoring through Zoom now includes weekend hours for students – with some in-person sessions available in the Dr. William P. Alexander Music Center, Room 221.
