Software Engineer

SSE is a leading technology company serving St. Louis, MO and Jacksonville, FL for over 30 years. We are a leading provider of aviation courseware development, virtual training development, and training for military and commercial aircraft. We are seeking skilled Software Engineers to join our team in Jacksonville, FL.

Software Engineers will work on applications that simulate aircraft training systems.

SOFTWARE ENGINEER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) environment
  • Object Oriented Programming (OOP)
  • Working on technical data packages; writing pseudocode for preliminary design reviews (PDRs)
  • Developing code to incorporate quality inputs in Virtual Maintenance Trainers (VMTs) for the support of Navy F/A-18 aircraft
  • Leading or supporting technical collaboration
  • Identifying and recommending changes needed to tasks and functionality
  • Development, peer review, and release of software and systems related documentation
  • Conducting software testing, quality assurance reviews, and making necessary corrections ensuring functionality of software

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors of Science degree with training in computer science, software engineering, computer engineering, or related field
  • Experience in multiple developmental technologies and platforms, including proficiency in object oriented design principles:
  • Ada and C++
  • SAFe Agile software development methodology experience desired
  • Experience with Version One desired
  • Software verification experience (i.e. testing/debugging, writing verification cases and procedures, running verification procedures and investigating issues)
  • Knowledge of military avionics highly preferred
  • Knowledge of MIL-STD-1553 and ARINC buses a plus
  • Strong written/oral communication, team building, and analytical skills
  • Adaptive and willing to learn and incorporate new ideas and emerging technology
  • “This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required.” US Citizen required
