Santa Clara County Katie A. Services aim to address mental health symptoms that are impacting the youth’s ability to successfully meet their life goals. In addition to symptom management and reduction, clinicians collaborate with youth and their family treatment teams to identify and work toward overall wellness goals, such as increasing independent skills, increasing adaptive coping skills, expanding their support network, accessing community resources, and pursuing employment and educational opportunities.

The KAS (Katie A. Services) Clinician provides therapeutic services, including counseling, case management, permanency planning, and crisis intervention, to youth and young adults ages 6-21 years of age. Clinicians are members of a treatment team, and provide services at the program site and in the community, including schools, and family homes. Santa Clara County KAS Services aim to address mental health symptoms that are impacting the youth’s ability to successfully meet their life goals. In addition to symptom management and reduction, clinicians collaborate with youth and their family treatment teams to identify and work toward overall wellness goals, such as increasing independent skills, increasing adaptive coping skills, expanding their support network, accessing community resources, and pursuing employment and educational opportunities.

Services build on the values and strengths of each youth and family, and are tailored to meet their unique and changing needs. As our approach to services is youth driven, each client identifies the focus of their treatment, as well as the people they want on their family treatment team, which may include supportive family, friends, or community members. The clinician is the Primary Service Coordinator (PSC). The role of the PSC is to guide and oversee all aspects of treatment. The PSC authorizes services and is an integral part of the youth’s team.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the clinical lead and work with the treatment team to provide intake assessment, treatment planning, crisis intervention and other mental health services as needed at the program site, in clients’ homes, and in the community.
  • Act as the Primary Service Coordinator for their client.
  • Provide counseling, family therapy, and case management services to help clients achieve wellness goals relative to their life goals.
  • Collaborate with youth to develop their sustainable wellness plan that includes identifying their network of natural supports.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with community members, service providers, and county partners.
  • Participate in all staff meetings, trainings, and client meetings when necessary.
  • Complete mental health notes, treatment plans, outcome measures, incident reports, and other documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Participate in weekly supervision with the program supervisor or designee.
  • Maintain professional behavior at all times, appropriately representing Seneca’s mission and philosophy.
  • Attend the Katie A. Child and Family Team meetings (at least every 90 days/quarterly).

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in psychology, counseling, or social work required.
  • Currently registered or in process of registration with BBS.
  • TB test clearance, fingerprinting clearance, and any other licensing or certification requirements.
  • Own vehicle, California driver’s license and insurance.
  • Knowledge of psychotherapy theories and interventions.
  • Prefer at least 9 months to 1 year experience in working in a mental health setting.
  • Experience working with diverse populations.
  • Ability to work as a team player, with strong communication skills and flexibility.

Schedule

  • Monday- Friday
  • Flexible schedule required, with the ability to work some evening and weekend hours as needed
