Full-Time Job, Internships Expires February 26, 2021

Assistant Managing Editor, VOLUNTEER

30 hours/week, 5+ weeks

Check with your Internship Coordinator BEFORE accepting to determine how you might do this internship for credit.

Picture This Post magazine, www.picturethispost.com, alerts time-strapped readers to cultural offerings that are the best match for their interests in art, books, dance, film, museums, music, theater, as well as travel with a focus on culture. We not only cover culture creators and venues with high name recognition, but also delight in helping to showcase bold, creative strokes by fledgling artists in all genres.

This position is designed as an intensive immersion in learning how to manage nearly every aspect of the magazine, including: maintaining READERS’ CALENDAR; curating content for previews, reviews and interview articles, including mastering our modified WordPress automation to create layouts and especially EDITOR’S PICKS content; implementing correspondence and coordination with culture creators and their PR reps, cultivating new content areas being targeted for magazine expansion; social media promotion of all content; and managing reader newsletters.

Depending on your interests and the publication’s evolving needs, you will also be tapped to help with: implementing writer assignment systems; editing; training; identifying content aggregators worldwide; registering our magazine in various global directories.

You will be a right-hand person of the Editor In Chief and confer with her daily+ by phone, text and emails. You will be responsible for keeping up weekly reports on your training and achievements and submitting weekly with your upcoming weekly schedule projection.

At the conclusion of this five-week+ intensive, you should have a detailed understanding of what is involved in online publishing in general— to help you chart your preferred career direction/s.

Please Note: ALL Picture This Post editors and writers are volunteers—from top to bottom. There is not a paid internship opportunity.

This is a full-time VOLUNTEER job of short duration. In addition to the 30 hours/week required for this role, you are encouraged to also plan additional time to complete 1 – 3 reviews/week that will also immerse you in the specifics of the PICTURE THIS writing genre.
