North Star Fund is hiring a Development Associate. We seek a full-time Development Associate to join the development team in achieving our ambitious goals now and in the future. They are an excellent communicator and project manager and can present fresh approaches towards fundraising operations, logistics and communications. Salary is $58,240 per year plus benefits. Help us Bring our Mission to Life

We are looking for committed people who put the mission front and center. We believe our movements and, by extension, our organization should be led at all levels by people who bring a deep commitment to grassroots organizing, especially the leadership of Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) communities.

We are looking for people who bring a discipline of teamwork and thoughtful collaboration. We strive to become an organization free of silos where everyone pitches in to get the job done, and we can look to each other for support in busy times.

We seek patient people who bring integrity and resolve to actively disrupt power dynamics based on systems of oppression, like structural racism, classism, patriarchy, homophobia and transphobia, ageism, and ableism. We know that the same systems of injustice in the broader world and philanthropy at large come up within the organization. We want to develop a discipline of openly naming these issues, taking responsibility for it, and building a different way forward.

A commitment to personal and professional development.

Work/life balance. We encourage staff to attend to their wellness. We offer staff members three weeks of vacation in the first year (four weeks after the first year), along with personal days, sick days and holidays of your choosing.

Great benefits. We offer a generous benefits package, including payment of 100% of the health insurance premiums for employees (and 75% of the premiums for dependents), including vision and dental. We have options for pre-tax withholding for health and dependent care needs, and we proudly exceed the minimum requirements for parental leave provided by NY State Law. North Star also offers life insurance, long‐term disability protection, a group 403(b) retirement plan (with an employer contribution after one year), a monthly unlimited MetroCard, and a sabbatical after five years of employment.
