INTERNSHIP PURPOSE:
To develop an understanding of individual income tax law and its practical application.
INTERN RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Assemble tax returns in accordance with tax assembly checklist
· Review, organize, sort and scan individual income tax return source documents
· Review financial records such as prior tax return forms and source documents needed to prepare an accurate tax return
· Interview clients to obtain additional information needed to prepare a complete and accurate return
· Prepare federal, state and local individual income tax returns
· Research simple to moderate individual income tax issues using tax research software and IRS guidance to determine proper tax treatment
· Perform other tax related duties as needed
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
· Enrollment in a bachelor’s degree program
· Completion of at least two years of undergraduate studies
· Preferred major: accounting
· Preferred GPA of 3.0 or higher
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS DESIRED:
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Proficient with Excel, Word and Adobe – tax software a plus
· Completion of Federal Taxation I or related individual income tax preparation experience preferred
· Ability to balance team and individual responsibilities
· Ability to prioritize workload to ensure commitments and deadlines are met

SCHEDULE:
Commitment of 40-50 hours per week.
