The Marketing and Social Media Intern will work directly with the Marketing Coordinator of Historic Bethlehem Museums & Sites. Interns must commit a minimum of 12 hours per week for this internship, Monday-Friday, with some weekend work necessary for special events. Since this is an unpaid internship, interns are encouraged to earn academic credit for this experience. Please consult with your faculty advisor.
Intern duties include managing social media, acquiring marketing quality promotional information and photographs, website management, email marketing, event promotion through press releases and community bulletin boards, and advertising. The intern will be responsible for maintaining weekly social media schedules that cover our many event and program offerings, as well as share the history we preserve and maintain with great accuracy. The Social Media & Marketing Intern often works closely with Graphic Design interns for these projects. Spring semester interns will assist with seasonal offerings including Rooms to View House & Garden Tour, Blueberry Festival, and the current exhibition on display.
A successful applicant for this position will be able to formally communicate with the public, have excellent writing skills, as well as professional and customer service skills. They should be comfortable researching information on events, programs, tours, and other offerings and be capable of writing engaging content across various media platforms. High attention to detail and accuracy in drafting content is a must.
Interns should be majoring in Marketing or Writing, with successful completion of Introductory writing courses. Experience in using various e-communication platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Pinterest are strongly encouraged. Familiarity with HootSuite, WordPress, and Constant Contact is a plus, though not required. Photography and videography skills is a plus
