The Graphic Design Intern will work directly with the Marketing Coordinator. Interns must commit a minimum of 12 hours per week for this internship, Monday-Friday, with some weekend work necessary for special events. Since this is an unpaid internship, interns are encouraged to earn academic credit for this experience. Please consult with your faculty advisor.
The graphic design intern will gain experience designing a wide variety of materials. Frequently included are promotional posters, fliers, logos, invitations, rack cards, brochures, and website graphics, print ads for newspapers and popular magazines, as well as curatorial design elements for exhibitions. The Graphic Design intern often works closely with Social Media & Marketing interns for these projects. Spring semester interns will assist with seasonal offerings including Rooms to View House & Garden Tour, Blueberry Festival, and the current exhibition on display.
This fast-paced internship is best for students in their Junior or Senior year of college with access to their own laptop with Adobe Creative Suite design programs. Knowledge of InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop are required. A successful applicant will be able to demonstrate strong creative and copywriting skills as well as high attention to detail and accuracy in their work. They will be able to adhere to strict deadlines, maintain project schedules, and be able to transition from task to task as needed. The successful intern will readily accept feedback on their design, make appropriate changes to their work, and ask questions when they are uncertain.
Successful completion of introductory level design courses in Adobe Creative Suite programs required. Familiarity with video-editing programs and WordPress is a plus, though not required.
