Collections & Exhibition Management Intern Summer 2021

The collections and exhibition management intern will assist with research, design, installation, and promotion of new exhibitions across all of Historic Bethlehem’s sites. Internships in this category are tailored to the specific interests of the student and needs of the organization. Students must commit a minimum of 12 hours per week for this internship. Since this is an unpaid internship, interns are encouraged to earn academic credit for this experience. Please consult with your faculty advisor.

Intern duties will include artifact or exhibit research, developing hands-on experiences for exhibitions, and drafting social media copy, website copy, and press releases to promote exhibitions. They may be asked to assist with writing tour scripts and giving tours to museum guests. the implementation of a variety of programs related to exhibition offerings, including Design After Dark, the Single Sisters Series, and Free Sundays at the Museum as needed. Interns will gain experience planning and executing a museum exhibition from concept through installation. Summer interns will be expected to assist with pop up exhibitions in July and August in connection with Blueberry Festival and Musikfest.

The successful intern will be detail oriented, self directed, and organized. They will exhibit an eagerness and ability to learn quickly, and be able to transition from task to task, as needed, in a fast-paced environment. The successful intern will be able and willing to interact with members of the public of all ages.

The ability to independently research is required. Familiarity with Past Perfect and Hootsuite preferred but not required. Artifact handling experience preferred but not required. Art installation experience and competency with power tools a plus.
