Definition of Class
This position involves working with the technical aspects of the Local Area Network, Wide Area Network, application servers, storage,
security devices, and other aspects of the network and application environment.
Duties & Responsibilities
Responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, installing, and patching of network servers. Configuration and programming of network switches and other related hardware. Also develops and maintains the backup and disaster recovery processes. This position provides end user support in the areas of hardware and software applications, domain administration and group policy. Develops and maintains associated system documentation. This position embraces the study and testing of new technology and is a key contributor to the short and long term County IT roadmap. The following tasks are required but not limited to: • Daily maintenance and support of network servers. • Daily maintenance and support of network switches. • Daily maintenance and support of the backup and disaster recovery process. • Technical and end user support of County software applications. • Assist with web site updates. • Must be on-call for emergency situations. • Must work well with others, and assist in County wide IT initiatives. • Assist in other technological initiatives per the IT Director.

• Experience with Networking, Servers, and Workstations in a Windows Environment • Knowledge of Data Retention, Backup, and Disaster Recovery Techniques • Knowledge of Security and Anti-Virus Applications • Knowledge of the Maintenance and Operation of Data Processing Equipment • Knowledge of the use of various Network and Computer Diagnostic Equipment • Knowledge of various Networking Protocols, Security, and Infrastructure • Knowledge of Virtualization, Unified Storage and Security Protocols • Knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy • Ability to Solve Complex Problems • Excellent Interpersonal Skills • Excellent Verbal and Writing skills • Strong Critical-thinking and Analytical Skills • Strong Customer Service Skills • Strong Understanding of the Organization’s Goals and Objectives • Ability to Conduct Research into Emerging Technologies • Ability to Work Independently • Ability to Work as a Team Member
Minimum Requirements & Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field, or 4 years of Experience in a Progressive IT Environment
2. Experience with Active Directory and Group Policy 3. Experience with Networking Devices
Work is performed under the direction of the County Information Technology Director or onsite IT Manager.
