Full-Time Job Expires February 28, 2021

Bard High School Early College (BHSEC) Queens, a partnership of Bard College and the NYC Department of Education, invites applications for a part-time leave replacement faculty position to teach either two sections of a college course on the Cold War or a US History course in our high school program which includes students who learn better with two teachers in the room (ICT classes). The position is from February 2021 through June 2021. BHSEC, a national model in public school reform, enables talented and highly motivated students to graduate with an associate of arts (A.A.) degree from Bard College and a NYS Regents diploma within four years. The academic program emphasizes a commitment to teaching a diverse student body in a liberal arts environment.

Our History Department values close reading of primary texts to foster critical thinking and to develop informed citizens. Experience teaching younger students, flexibility to teach remotely or in person, and a commitment to scholarship are desirable. Candidates with a Ph.D. in your field and/or certification to teach in the New York City public school system are given priority.

To Apply

To apply, upload a letter of interest, CV, and names and contact information for three reference who we could contact after a successful interview, and a brief classroom story, drawn from your experience as teacher of a student with a different background than your own and interpret it (c. 200 words) via the Interfolio job application link provided here: http://apply.interfolio.com/82352

Questions

Inquiries about the position may be directed via email to Dr. Laura Hymson, (lhymson@bhsec.bard.edu).
