“The relationship that Edinboro has and the reputation that it holds, really helped me land this internship.”
I have the amazing opportunity to intern with Make-A-Wish (MAW). Throughout the summer, I will be able to assist in the process of planning wishes and local benefit events for MAW. The planning process for a wish is actually more difficult than it sounds- it’s more than just making airline reservations. In addition, I also get to help with planning local benefits such as making flyers and coordinating event details. I hope to walk away from my internship knowing I made a difference in a child’s life… and learn a thing or two about event planning.
When I was applying for internships over the course of a couple months, I actually had not considered event planning. My first choice internship was a marketing position for an organization in Erie. But once I had my interview with MAW, I knew this was the right one for me. My cousin was granted a wish after suffering his battle with cancer, so this really was something special for me. After hearing that I got the position with MAW, I denied all other offers (7 of them to be exact).
Edinboro University really guided me to this rewarding internship. Edinboro does a lot of work for MAW, such as the Wish Week. After being in the event planning club (ACE), I worked closely with Make-A-Wish. The relationship that Edinboro has and the reputation that it holds, really helped me land this internship. I am glad that I chose Edinboro University to complete my bachelor’s degree.
